Many companies are falling into the trap of jumping on the AI bandwagon without a clear strategy—just as we saw in the 2000s with e-commerce, in 2010 with mobile apps, and later with corporate social media. In each case, businesses rushed to implement solutions without proper preparation or a solid plan, resulting in failed projects and widespread disappointment in technologies that are now essential for business success.
The same pattern is emerging with AI today. Many companies are being lured by opportunistic implementers promising quick, magical solutions—often without adequate security measures or alignment with clear business objectives, and sometimes even risking their strategic information. The outcome? More failures than successes. However, those who approach AI with intelligence and strategic planning are standing out and gaining a competitive edge.
The Current State of AI
AI is still in a process of maturation—promising and highly useful even in its current state, but far from perfect. We are in the early stages, where AI resembles a small child: trusting everything and unaware of the consequences of its actions. An AI model can repeat what it hears or share sensitive information without malice, but the implications can be severe. That’s why it’s critical to operate in secure environments while these technologies continue to mature.
When used thoughtfully and strategically, AI tools can be incredibly effective and efficient. However, like any powerful tool, they must be handled with care to avoid unnecessary risks.
The Key Lies in Strategy
AI implementation should begin with a strategic analysis that considers platforms, risks, and specific objectives. A crucial recommendation is to start with internal projects that enhance the capabilities of human teams. By giving employees access to AI tools, you not only automate repetitive tasks but also empower them with what we might call «superpowers.»
For example, it’s not about replacing call center agents but empowering them with access to data, automated solutions, and tools that allow them to serve customers better. AI should be an ally that optimizes their work without compromising the company’s security or reputation.
AI: A Reckless Friend if Not Properly Managed
Language models (LLMs) can behave like an indiscreet friend who, without intending to, reveals sensitive information. While there may be no malicious intent, the damage can be significant if proper security measures are not in place.
This is why, beyond adopting AI as a trend, we must focus on robust strategies that balance innovation with control. Only then can we harness its potential without jeopardizing operations or customer trust.
When used wisely, AI can be a spectacular tool to transform businesses and provide a competitive advantage. But success doesn’t lie in the technology itself—it lies in how we use it.
A Critical Risk: Malicious Prompts
The vulnerability of our information through malicious prompts is a crucial issue that must be addressed in every AI project involving AI agents. I always recommend starting with internal use cases in private environments to enhance the capabilities of our team members while we mature and gain a better understanding of these agents.
